Searching "Rogue knee sleeves"? Rogue Fitness is one of the best-known names in strength equipment, and its 7mm sleeves are a common sight in garage gyms. We're Bay Gear Co., a veteran-owned brand that also makes 7mm knee sleeves, so we get asked how ours compare.

This post compares the two using only what each brand lists on its own website. We'll also point out where Rogue is the better choice.

Bay Gear Co. isn't affiliated with Rogue Fitness. "Rogue" is used here only to identify their products. All Rogue details come from roguefitness.com, checked October 11, 2026.

Where Rogue Is the Better Pick

  • You compete. Rogue lists its 7mm sleeves as IPF and IWF legal for raw and open competition. We don't list federation approval for ours. If you're buying sleeves for a meet, Rogue is the clearer choice. Always check your federation's current approved list before meet day.
  • You want U.S.-made gear. Rogue's 7mm sleeves are made in the USA. We don't list a country of manufacture for our sleeves.
  • You want a color, a thinner sleeve, or a custom pair. Rogue offers five 7mm colors, 3mm and 5mm pairs, and custom sleeves. We make one all-black 7mm sleeve.
  • You need an XS. Rogue starts at XS. Our smallest size is Small.
  • You want more reviews to go on. Rogue's Black 7mm page shows 268 reviews averaging 4.6. Ours average 4.45 across 22 Judge.me reviews.
  • You're already ordering other Rogue gear. Add two more "3 Ships Free" items and the whole group ships free in the lower 48.

Where Bay Gear Co. Stands Out

  • A lower price. Our 7mm sleeves are $59.99 a pair, $10.01 less than Rogue's $70.
  • One pair ships free. Orders of $49 or more ship free, so a single pair qualifies. Orders placed by 3 PM ET ship the same day.
  • Free liquid chalk at the same price. Our Knee Sleeves Deal adds a free 50 ml bottle of liquid chalk, still $59.99.
  • An easier return. Return unused items within 30 days, and we email you a prepaid label. Rogue's policy has you pay return shipping.
  • Bundles built around squat day. The Lock & Load Bundle pairs knee sleeves with a quick-locking belt, wrist wraps and lifting straps for $124.96 (regularly $139.96). The Heavy Hitter Bundle adds our 10mm lever belt instead, for $204.96 (regularly $234.96). Training elbows too? Our Knee Sleeves + Elbow Sleeves Bundle is $99.98.
  • Veteran-owned. Brian Young founded Bay Gear Co. in 2017 as an active-duty U.S. Marine, working out of his barracks room at Camp Lejeune, North Carolina. We're veteran-owned and operated.

Sizing: Two Different Ways to Measure

This is the part people get wrong when switching brands. Rogue and Bay Gear Co. don't measure in the same spot.

  • Rogue measures your upper calf, 10 cm below the kneecap: XS 31–33 cm, S 33–35, M 35–37, L 37–40, XL 40–43. For a tighter, competition-style fit, Rogue suggests going one size smaller than the chart.
  • Bay Gear Co. measures tightly around your knee: S 12.6–13.7 in (32–35 cm), M 13.7–14.5 in (35–37 cm), L 14.5–15.7 in (37–40 cm), XL 15.7–16.9 in (40–43 cm). If you land right between two sizes, our chart says to pick the smaller one.

Because the measuring spots differ, take a fresh measurement for each brand instead of assuming your Rogue size carries over. Our knee sleeve sizing guide walks through it step by step.

3mm vs 5mm vs 7mm

Rogue sells all three thicknesses. We make 7mm only.

  • 3mm is light and flexible, mostly for warmth. Rogue pitches it for agility and endurance work.
  • 5mm is a middle ground. Rogue pitches it for functional training.
  • 7mm is the thickest and firmest of the three, with the most compression. Rogue pitches it for Olympic and heavy lifting, and it's the usual pick for heavy squat days.

Our best knee sleeves guide goes deeper on thickness, fit and care.
