Ankle straps buying guide and FAQ

How to choose ankle straps

Ankle straps let you attach a cable machine to your ankle instead of your hand, which opens up a whole set of lower-body exercises: glute kickbacks, hip abductions, standing leg curls and leg extensions. A good strap stays put through every rep, feels comfortable against your ankle and clips on to the cable quickly.

Padding and comfort

Cable work puts the pulling force right on the strap, so padding matters. Our straps have neoprene padding on the inside, and the Black, OD Green and Pink straps use an interlock polyester fabric, so they're comfortable for higher-rep sets.

Closure and fit

Each strap closes with an adjustable hook-and-loop strap, so you can snug it to your ankle whether you're wearing it over a sock or higher up. Wrap it so it's firm but not uncomfortable, then check it doesn't slide when you take the first rep.

Hardware

The strap uses 100% nylon webbing and a steel buckle with a D-ring that clips onto the cable carabiner. Clip on, set the cable at the height your exercise needs, and you're ready to go.

Pair or single?

Every color comes as a single strap for $9.99 or a pair for $19.98. A single strap is enough if you train one side at a time. A pair saves swapping the strap between legs and lets you do exercises with both ankles strapped in. Check each product page for current pricing and availability.

Exercises to try

Popular ankle strap exercises include cable glute kickbacks, standing hip abductions, standing leg curls, and cable leg extensions. Start light, focus on control, and keep your torso steady. Our guide How to Use Ankle Straps for Cable Glute Exercises walks through setup and form for each one.

Pick your look

All five colors use the same design: Black and OD Green for a clean, tactical look, Pink and Galaxy if you want something brighter, and our signature Tactical Hawaiian print to match the rest of your Bay Gear Co. gear.

Care

Wipe your straps down after training and let them air dry. If they need a proper clean, hand wash in cool water with mild detergent and keep the hook-and-loop closed so it doesn't snag.

FAQ

Cable machine ankle straps attach your ankle to a cable
pulley so you can train glutes, hamstrings, and hips with resistance. Popular
exercises include glute kickbacks, hip abductions, standing leg curls, and leg
raises. Bay Gear Co. ankle straps have a durable steel buckle, 100% nylon
webbing, a Velcro closure that fits all ankle sizes, and neoprene padding to
prevent rubbing and chafing.

A single ankle strap works if you train one leg at a
time on one cable stack, which covers most kickback and abduction workouts. A
pair lets you switch legs without moving the strap, or set up both sides for
exercises that use two cables. Bay Gear Co. ankle straps are sold as a
pair ($19.98) or a single strap ($9.99), in prints like Tactical Hawaiian,
Galaxy, and Pink.
