Great Support

I'm in my mid 30's, and finally got my home gym put together again this year. I love the old lifting belt I've used for years, but due to lots of work travel and lack of gym access... it no longer fits my "expanded size." At first I tried a less expensive belt, as the plan was to get back down to where I can use my original one. The cheap one worked well enough, but you definitely get what you pay for. This one is a bit more expensive, but well worth the price. It's a thick, high quality leather that I have no doubt will last for many years. The buckle is easy to move to get the right fit, and opens and closes easily. This makes it simple to take off to get a breather between sets, without fiddling to get it back on. All together, it's a great belt that I look forward to using as I get back in shape.

Great quality

Back injuries are tricky and can take a long time to recover from, so it's important to focus on prevention. This lever belt provides the proper support when exercising. The materials and construction are high quality and built to last. The lever allows for a tighter fit and a quicker fastening over a traditional prong attachment/buckle. The drawback is that you'll need a Phillips screwdriver if you need to adjust the size (only two screws to remove). The name of the company is on the inside of the belt with their simple (and low-key) logo on the outside. The sizing is accurate, but the small digs into my ribcage slightly (I'm 5'9", 145lbs with what I thought to be an average torso). Fair value.

Convenient with Solid Support

This Bay Gear Co. lever belt turned out to be an excellent addition to my lifting gear. What stood out to me immediately was the outstanding support it provided for me. The belt gives my core solid support during heavy lifts, and it feels every bit as sturdy as many higher‑priced belts I’ve used over the years. What I personally appreciated most is the lever lock system. Compared to traditional “belt buckle” belts, this lever design is simply easier and faster to secure. Once you choose your size, which seems to run true, you can fine tune the fit by adjusting the position of the lever plate within the belt’s size range (it has multiple holes for lever placement and is secured with screws, using a Phillips screwdriver.) This system gives you a more personal fit and once you set it, the convenience and consistency of the lever system make a big difference. For me, the ease of locking in the same tightness every time quickly, is a big advantage. The build quality is impressive. The belt feels solid, well‑made, and durable, with thick material that don’t feel flimsy or prone to stretching. This is a high‑quality, supportive lifting belt with a smooth and secure lever mechanism. It’s durable, true to size, and provides excellent stability during heavy lifts. I really like it.

I love this belt!

This lifting belt is an awesome option for bracing your core when doing squats or dead lifts. I currently have a minor umbilical hernia and it can be very painful for me to do those lifts especially at higher weights. This belt is great at giving support to my whole core and still allows for bending and necessary movements during those lifts. The toggle buckle works amazing! It is easy to operate, and fully and securely locks so you can brace against it and not worry about the buckle popping open. There are some limitations with the design, for one it only accommodates a single waist size at a time. You are able to adjust the size with a Phillips screwdriver but you have to have one in order do that and I don't know anyone that takes a tool to the gym.The material is nice and thick so you van be comfortable even when its sinched tightly. It also doesn't stretch or bend light thinner belts. The toggle buckle also makes it more comfortable to wear than a traditional belt through buckle design where they the belt has to deform and twist around the buckle. The look and feel are also very professional. This belt definitely is a great option for the average joe or serious lifter! The size is also spot on to the size chart Listed in the advertisement so you can be sure it’ll work for you perfectly.

Well Made, High Quality, Great Support, But Slightly Inconvenient When Adjusting Size!

I’ll start off with the “pros”. The build quality is excellent! durable materials, solid construction, and a sturdy lever buckle. It does provide excellent lower back support while lifting too! I was able to lift heavier than my normal PRs while wearing this! However, I ran into some “cons”.. the main issue is the lever design. Adjusting the fit requires removing screws, which makes quick changes inconvenient compared to a traditional dual-prong buckle. The metal plate on the back of the lever also sits against your body, which is not very comfortable..Like I said, It DOES provide great core and lower back support, HOWEVER during squats it repeatedly pinched my skin and slight irritation. Its thick design offers very little flexibility and it left a little mark on my back 🥲Overall, this is a well-made belt and may work well for those who prefer this style. For me, the design drawbacks outweigh the benefits, so I’ll be sticking with traditional weight belts. 4 stars because I can tell this is a great belt for those who appreciate this kind! ⭐️

Good quality materials, very supportive, but pricing is a concern.

The lever belt by Bay Gear. I have no issues with the quality. It is a nice genuine suede leather. In my case, the size chart is very accurate. When you measure correctly for determining your belt size, it’s not at waistline, or your typical dress belt level but more at belly button level. This is where you wear a power belt. Slightly below your rib cage, this is how you generate the internal pressure and core stability caused by your abdomen pushing outward against the belt. I have the Lever lock mounted in the middle of the adjustment hole range and my midsection measurement was also mid range based on their sizing. Measured this way size chart was accurate.I have tried this for my two heavier lifts, squat and dead lift. It provides substantial support. A good compromise between a light duty 4-6mm belt and a competition 10-13mm belt. It does not state in the product details the belt thickness, so I measured it and it measures .315. This would make it a 8mm belt. Good supportive belt for beginner and intermediate. As I have stated, I have no quality issues, but it is in the pricier range. I have many belts, both lever lock and double prong, all premium leather of equal and greater thicknesses that were less expensive. The accompanying photos show just one belt of comparable leather quality, lever locking hardware, and finish. The only major difference it is 12mm thick, geared more for competitive powerlifting. But purchased for considerably less money. The Bay Gear is a good quality, heavy duty belt, but not competitively priced.

Excellent Support Without Feeling Restrictive

The media could not be loaded.

I used this belt for squats during today's workout, and overall I'm very impressed with it.If you've never used a lever belt before, the biggest advantage is that once it's adjusted correctly, it stays exactly where you want it and provides very consistent support. The downside is that making adjustments at the gym isn't as convenient as with a prong belt unless you happen to have a screwdriver with you. That's more of a characteristic of lever belts in general than a flaw with this particular belt. What stood out to me most was how comfortable it felt while lifting. Some belts seem to dig into your ribs or hips when you're bracing hard, but I didn't notice that with this one. It's hard to explain, but the belt just felt right. You definitely know it's there because of the pressure, but it provides a solid surface to brace against without feeling like it's fighting your movement. The construction is excellent. The stitching looks top-notch, the leather has a very nice feel to it, almost like a soft suede, and the lever mechanism locks firmly into place with no noticeable flex or movement once secured. My only issue was that one of the screws appeared to be cross-threaded when it arrived. I was initially concerned that the threads might have been damaged, but I backed the screw out, cleaned it up, reinstalled it, and tightened everything down without any problems. Once corrected, everything lined up properly and has stayed secure.Overall, this is a solid lifting belt that provides excellent support, feels comfortable during heavy bracing, and appears to be built to last. If you're looking for a quality lever belt for squats, deadlifts, and other heavy lifts, this one is definitely worth considering.

Not the correct size

I measured myself before I ordered this belt. My waist is 37 to 38 inches with clothes on and a relaxed waist. When I got this belt, it was set to the next to largest setting. And that setting was a little tight for me. I would say that a medium is not sized for a person with a 40 inch waist as it says. If you are close to the edge of a size, I would consider going up on the size. in the image I took I am showing my waist size in the belt is on the largest setting. If I am bracing my core then I expect to be able to breathe in deep and expand my waist a little.Other than the size being off and having to adjust it, I would say this is obviously a very good quality lever belt. I can definitely see myself bracing pretty hard against it.If you go a little too big on the size, you would still be able to adjust it down a lot more than you can adjust it up. There are a lot of holes for making it smaller.

Black Lever Belt

This belt gives much firmer support than a normal gym belt and the lever makes it quick to tighten before a set then release right after. Getting the correct adjustment took a few tries because even one hole can make it feel way too tight or not supportive enough. Once set though I do not have to readjust it every time. The material is thick and stiff at first so it needed some wear before it started shaping comfortably around my waist. I use it for heavier lifts where I want something solid to brace against, not for every exercise through the whole workout. The lever closes securely and has not popped open during use. Sizing needs careful measuring since the belt has a limited adjustment range after the lever is mounted. Very sturdy feeling and the plain black look works for me.

Great quality build with a clean look

This is a really nice lifting belt. The leather feels high quality, the stitching is clean, and it has a solid, durable feel. The lever buckle is probably my favorite part because it makes getting the belt on and off so much faster compared to fighting with a traditional prong belt between sets. The support is excellent for heavier lifts like squats and deadlifts. It feels like a good middle ground between a thinner beginner belt and a super thick competition-style belt. It provides plenty of stability without feeling overly bulky. The sizing was accurate for me, but make sure you measure where you actually wear a lifting belt, not where you would measure for normal clothing. My only real complaint is the price. This is definitely on the expensive side, and while the quality is there, there are other good leather lever belts available for less. That said, if you want a belt that feels premium and you plan to use it regularly, this is a very solid option. It feels like something that will last for years.

Super high quality!

Super nice lever belt! I love the suede leather and how durable the lever is. It latches down tight giving me the best support during my lifts. This is a really high quality belt! Not a cheap belt like others I’ve tried. This will last forever! I love this belt. Definitely worth the price!

Good support, but sizing runs large

The fit was the problem for me. I followed the measurement guide before choosing a size, but it still ran larger than I expected. I had more room than I wanted around my waist, and that took away from the secure feel I was looking for.The lever closes firmly and stays put once it is locked. The belt feels sturdy and gives me a solid surface to brace against during lifting. I also like how quickly the lever opens and closes compared with dealing with a regular buckle each time. I would have given it 5 stars if the sizing had matched the guide more closely. Measure carefully, and keep the larger fit in mind before choosing your size.

Top notch weightlifting belt.

I have had several weightlifting belts and I must say, this is nicest belt I've ever owned. Rather pricey, for sure. But, you get what you pay for. The leather used in this belt is very good quality. The reinforced stitching is exceptional. I doubt seriously the stitching will come loose anywhere on this belt. The belt just looks good on, cool looking. The sizing is true to size. I especially like the easy on and off latch. It makes tightening the belt down so much easier. And it makes letting the belt loose easy. Sometimes with traditional belts I find it takes a little bit of effort to unhook the belts to take them off. Not the case with this belt. The stainless steel latch should likewise repel rust from sweat. Overtime, I will see but so far so good. This belt is almost to nice to use. Lol. No seriously, a great belt for serious lifters. You have to be serious to spend the amount of money on the price of this belt. I guess that is my only gripe. It is EXPENSIVE. But again, a nice quality belt like this will dictate a price like this. I highly recommend this belt.

Well-made, adjustable

This is a great belt for weight lifting or just moving heavy items around the house - my husband uses it for both purposes. Wide, provides very strong support, adjustable in just the right increments. Very strong stainless steel buckle. Heavy, but it's supposed to be in order to provide that needed protection. True to size if you are using the US system of sizes; I would say it actually fluctuates enough where size L, which we have, could also work for larger M and for smaller XL.Made from genuine leather, excellent quality craftsmanship. Nice, even stitches with heavy thread. Awesome value for money.

Solid Lever Belt That's Easy to Adjust

I've been really happy with this lifting belt. The lever buckle makes it quick and easy to put on and take off, especially compared to a traditional prong belt. Once it's locked in, it feels secure and doesn't loosen during a workout. The belt itself is sturdy and provides excellent support for heavy lifts like squats, deadlifts, and overhead presses. It gives my core something solid to brace against, which helps me feel more stable under load. The construction feels durable, with quality stitching and a solid lever mechanism. The edges are finished nicely, so it's comfortable to wear without digging into my sides too much. After a few workouts, it started to break in while still maintaining plenty of support.Sizing was accurate, and once I found the right lever position, I haven't had to adjust it again. If your waist size changes, moving the lever only takes a few minutes.Overall, this is a well-made lifting belt that offers excellent support, easy operation, and good value. Whether you're just getting into heavier lifting or already training regularly, it's a great addition to your gym gear.

Top tier weightlifting/strength training belt. Made in the USA.

I am a male approaching my 40's that has exercised, mainly strength training, on and off for around 25 years. The number one thing that would have me be "off" and not as consistent were nagging injuries. The ones that sidelined me the longest were back/lower back injuries. Sometimes these would happen during warmup sets of deadlifts. So now I've only done squats/deadlifts with weightlifting belts, but usually with nylon budget friendly options, which I feel are limited in terms of comfort, durability, support, etc. This is my first time using a proper leather weight lifting belt and it feels noticeably better in every way. I feel full support during lifts that cause strain on my lower back (tested with deadlifts, squats, barbell rows), it doesn't feel uncomfortable on my body, and it locks in place properly.I love the lever system to keep it in place too. I had to use a screwdriver to adjust it initially, but once I sized it properly it fits perfectly. I'd keep in mind that you need to remember you aren't measuring this around your waist. You have to put it more closer to your stomach. I'm 5'9 and approximately 185 lbs, and large worked best for me.This thing looks and feels premium and incredibly durable, and I'm sure it'll last me the rest of my life and be something I can give my kids one day in the future. And while expensive at the current price point of $130, it actually seems like a much better value than other premium leather weightlifting belts that are made in the USA. 5/5. Highly recommended.

Not the best if you have a shorter torso, otherwise great

The construction on this belt is genuinely impressive. The leather is thick, stiff, and even, and the lever mechanism clicks into place with a satisfying, secure feel that makes quick adjustments between warm-up and working sets much easier than a traditional prong belt. For anyone with a longer torso or a larger midsection, this will fit and function exactly as intended. My one note is that the width and rigidity make it harder to position correctly if you have a shorter or smaller midsection, since the stiff material doesn't contour as easily and the lever placement ends up sitting awkwardly. That's a fit issue rather than a quality issue, and the belt itself earns every bit of a five-star construction rating.

Sturdy Lever Belt Built for Serious Lifting Stability and Consistent Core Support

This lever belt is designed with strength training in mind, especially for lifters who want consistent tightness and reliable core bracing under heavy loads. In real gym use, the lever mechanism provides a much faster and more repeatable tightening experience compared to traditional prong belts.Once locked in, the belt offers solid intra-abdominal pressure support, which is especially noticeable during squats and deadlifts. The material feels firm and structured rather than overly soft, which is exactly what you want in a lifting belt designed for stability. The adjustability via the lever system is a key advantage, allowing you to dial in a consistent fit without constant re-tightening between sets. Over time, this makes it more efficient for serious training sessions.Pros• Strong core support for heavy lifts• Fast and consistent lever adjustment• Durable structured build• Ideal for powerlifting-style training• Reduces need for constant re-tighteningCons• Requires initial fitting setup• Less flexible than softer belts for general use• Not ideal for beginners unfamiliar with lever systemsOverallA performance-focused lifting belt designed for serious strength training where stability and repeatable tightness are priorities.

Top quality, reasonable price.

I am an NASM certified personal trainer and nutrition coach with decades of experience in the health and fitness industry. In my spare time, I enjoy testing and reviewing fitness products for Amazon. I work out the gym five or six days a week. As a 50-year-old man, I appreciate devices that help people prevent themselves from getting injured. I think a good quality weight belt is an essential tool, especially for people that perform heavy and compound lifts. When Amazon offered to send me this one to test and review, I knew I wanted to check it out.I already own several lever Locking weight belts. Most of the ones I own are in a higher price range than this one. This is my first time trying this brand. I have to admit that I’m pretty impressed. The belt is fully adjustable, just as you would expect a lever locking belt to be. The screws hold in firmly. The materials, thick, stiff and high-quality. It has a suede type field to it, though I’m pretty sure it is artificial. Most of the stuff in this price range has some strange design on it, like a skull or something. If that’s not your thing, this is a great alternative. I think it is well worth the money and performs extremely well in relation to the value.
